Tamer Nafar, the first Palestinian rapper, grew up in Lyd, a mixed Palestinian-Jewish city. In 2000, he co-founded DAM, the first Palestinian hip-hop group, with his brother Suhell and Mahmood Jrere. Their breakthrough single Min Irhabi gained massive popularity, making DAM a voice for Palestinian struggle, women’s rights, and social activism.
Beyond music, Tamer has led impactful campaigns like Room No 4 against child arrests and Who Are You, a viral women’s rights initiative. He co-wrote and starred in Junction 48, which won awards at the Berlin and Tribeca film festivals. He has also acted in Hummus Full Trailer (2022) and How to Make a Revolution (2023) and writes op-eds with Haaretz, +972 Magazine, Telepolis, and The Guardian.

In 2000, Tamer formed the first Palestinian hip-hop group DAM, along with his brother Suhell Nafar and friend Mahmood Jrere. One of their first singles “Min Irhabi” (Who's the Terrorist) was downloaded over a million times, making DAM a household name among youth throughout the Middle East.
In 2004, DAM released the single Born Here, followed by a major campaign launched by Nafar to bring awareness to the disparity of Arab communities within Israel. In 2013, Tamer directed the photography campaign “Room No 4” to protest child arrests in East Jerusalem, and in 2014 DAM released the video “Who Are You” directed by Oscar nominated Palestinian filmmaker Scandar Copti. The video was accompanied by a viral social media campaign for women’s rights in the Arab world. In 2019 DAM released their “Ben Haana Wa Maana” album through the British label “Cooking Vinyl” & with “F-Cat” the booking agency for tours around the world.
In 2023 Tamer started writing weekly op-eds with: Ha Aret’z, +972 Magazine & The Germen Telepolis and sometimes in the Guardian.
Film & Theatre
Tamer co-wrote and starred in the feature film “Junction 48” directed by Udi Aloni and written by Nafar and Oren Moverman. The film won the Audience Award at the Berlin Film Festival and Best International Film in Tribeca and will be released in theatres in the US and Europe in 2017.
In 2022 he played the role of Khaled in the Comedy “Hummos Full Trailer” one of the most successful movies in Israeli theatre for 2022.
Today Tamer is acting in the new theatre play “How to make a Revolution” by Einat Weizman, playing the lead role of nonviolence leader Issa Amro.
